About Living In Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach, a neighborhood in San Diego, boasts beautiful views for its residents from the namesake along its border.  The community stretches 3 miles next to the Pacific Ocean, from La Jolla to Mission Beach.  Residents enjoy gorgeous sunny weather most days of the year.  Lovingly nicknamed “PB” by its residents, homes in Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and South Mission are ideal for their prime location near some of the liveliest nightlife, shopping, dining, and recreation.

Real estate in Pacific Beach is comprised of single-family homes and condos.  Most homes on the bay side are vacation rentals that are purchased by San Diego residents to offset the cost of their investment. The many university campuses that are near Pacific Beach have made the homes popular for young professionals, though the area also meets the needs of older residents with its luxury homes for upscale lifestyles.  There are a variety of sizes and floor plans available to fit many budgets.  The neighborhood of Crown Point is located within Pacific Beach, offering a great location and beautiful homes. Many homes in Crown Point are also owned as vacation rentals by San Diego residents as their summer home. Crown Point is a unique part of Pacific Beach in that there are many grassy park areas on the beach. Locals go to Crown Point to enjoy BBQing, bon-fires, family gatherings, kayaking and paddle boarding.

Pacific Beach residents have access to fun outdoor recreation.  Since the homes border the ocean, the beach is only a short trip away to enjoy the California sun and cool off with a swim or go surfing.  Residents and visitors alike can take advantage of the dual water-and-land activities in Mission Bay Park, which has over 4,000 acres to explore.  In fact, the park is the biggest water park of its kind in the country.  It features 27 miles of shoreline with beaches and specially marked swimming or sailing or water skiing areas.  All ages can explore the land and water by using the walking trails, boat rentals, bike paths, playgrounds, and basketball courts.  Many families enjoy packing a picnic or flying a kite to take advantage of the great weather. There is an information center at Mission Bay where anyone is free to gather more information about the hundreds of things to do in San Diego.

In addition to fun outdoor activities, Pacific Beach residents have lots of nearby restaurants, boutiques and shops.  To try a new cuisine, the restaurants on the boardwalk serve foods that everyone will want to try.  The boardwalk path boasts plenty of options, including fresh seafood, fancy cupcakes, and an upscale tasting room.  Shopping options abound at the Pacific Plaza Shopping Center, only a bike ride away.  Services like spa and salon treatments, one of a kind clothing boutiques, plus a grocery store and restaurants, make this a local hot-spot.

Residents of Pacific Beach are served by the San Diego Unified School District.  The area includes several great elementary schools.  Pacific Beach Middle School and Mission Bay Senior High School are both part of the International Baccalaureate program only offered here and at San Diego High School.  For alternative education, there are several private schools in the area.  Many higher education institutions have campuses near Pacific Beach, including San Diego State University and the University of California San Diego.
