The community of San Carlos, on the eastern side of San Diego, is a mostly upper middle-class neighborhood, named after its developer Carlos Tavares.  Residents enjoy stunning views of the adjacent Mission Trails Regional Park.  The community’s central crown is Cowles Mountain, a popular hiking destination.  Its residents enjoy close proximity to great schools and fun shopping, dining, and recreational opportunities.

Real estate in San Carlos is mainly made up of single-family homes.  The ranch-style designs were built between the 1960s and ‘70s.  A variety of sizes are available to meet everyone’s needs.  Many homes have amenities like high ceilings, fireplaces, and remodeled kitchens.  The neighborhood is especially popular for families because of the proximity of the excellent schools, friendly parks and a sense of community.

Recreation in San Carlos offers a variety of activities for residents to soak up the California sun.  For the kids, San Carlos has its own recreation center that hosts youth sports clinics for basketball, flag football, and volleyball.  A recently opened playground in the Lake Murray Community Park provides even more space for fun.  When adults need to take a break, there is a Parent’s Night Out every second Friday of the month.  Two annual events that all ages look forward to are the Spring Egg Hunt and the Halloween Carnival.  The neighborhood also has two places for residents to practice their golf swings:  San Carlos Golf Course and Mission Trails Golf Course.

A main attraction in San Carlos is its closeness to Lake Murray, which is located within the Mission Trails Regional Park.  Visitors can admire the stunning waterfront views while walking or biking along the lake’s path, and on certain days, they can try their hand at capturing some of the lake’s fish.  The area has numerous bird species, which bring bird watchers from all around the world.  The park also has picnic areas, tennis courts, and baseball fields, providing ways for visitors to keep entertained.

Residents of San Carlos are located near a number of dining and shopping opportunities.  You can find all types of cuisine in the area, with restaurants that serve dishes from Italy, Mexico, and more.  The San Carlos Shopping Center has various stores to find the latest fashions or technological services.

Residents of San Carlos are served by the San Diego Unified School District.  Schools within the neighborhood include Green & Benchley/Weinberger, Daillard and Gage Elementary.
